Haydn imitated the playing style of the Roma in the finale of his so-called 'Quint' quartet. Brahms also immortalized the compelling gypsy melodies in many of his pieces. And Bartók? He traveled the countryside with his phonograph in search of the authentic folk music of the Hungarian peasants, which he incorporated into his compositions.
