Bach, Handel, Haydn, Andriessen... - Varied programme - Dorien Schouten (organ and piano)

Saturday 4 November 2017, 20:00

The evening begins with 'worldly' music by J.S. Bach: the 'Hunting Cantata', written for an enthusiastic hunter. From Hendrik Andriessen we then hear the Miroir de peine, in which the suffering of Jesus is central. You will also meet two other Dutch composers: Daan Manneke and Jan Brandts Buys. Music by Handel, Britten, Haydn and Williams give the evening another twist. Finally, Dorien Schouten and Janet Forbes take you to 18th century England with music from the time of Jane Austen, author of famous (filmed) books such as Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.
