Experience a wonderful Viennese evening in the Edesche Concert Hall

The Wiener Kammersymphonie consists of the cream of the crop that the city of Vienna has to offer musically. Pianist Paolo Giacometti plays with this renowned ensemble a beautiful arrangement of Beethoven's 'Third Piano Concerto'. This masterpiece encloses the Vienna Chamber Symphony with Beethoven's equally famous 'Seventh Symphony' and the overture 'Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus'.

Paolo Giacometti

"Magisterial", "balanced", "elegant, flowing and transparent". These are just some of the opinions in the press about world pianist Paolo Giacometti. His interpretations of Ravel's music are unparalleled and of the highest level. He won many prizes at international competitions. For example, Giacometti received the "BBC Music Magazine's Benchmark and Performance of Outstanding Quality distinctions" for some of his recordings.

Wiener Kammersymphony

The Vienna Chamber Symphony was founded in 2006 on the occasion of the Mozart year. But now, more than ten years later, Mozart is no longer the ensemble's sole focus. However, Viennese music remains one of the most important sources of inspiration for the Wiener Kammer Symphony. Enjoy this string quintet that seems to come straight from the wide streets of Vienna.

The five members of the Vienna Chamber Symphony form a unique combination. Under the inspiring leadership of cellist Sergio Mastro, their performances attract enthusiastic audiences all over the world. In the Edesche Concert Hall, this Viennese string quintet plays beautiful music by Beethoven, together with star pianist Paolo Giacometti. "We've discovered so many original arrangements for string quintet that we've gained a place on the international concert stages."

Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto

When Beethoven composed his Third Piano Concerto, he was at the height of his fame as a pianist. Beethoven's friend Ignaz von Seyfried, who turned the pages during the world premiere of the play, remembered that he allowed himself many liberties: "I mainly saw empty pages with here and there some hieroglyph-like clues. Beethoven played it all by heart, because he hadn't had time to write it all down." When a befriended pianist wanted to perform the piece a year later, Beethoven only completely wrote out the piano part. It is these notes that come to life under the magical hands of pianist Paolo Gacometti

Beethoven's Seventh Symphony

Beethoven's 'Seventh Symphony' was a great success right at the premiere. Thus the popular 'Allegretto' had to be repeated. What's the secret of this masterpiece? Everything you can expect from Beethoven is in there: vocal melodies and rousing rhythms. Richard Wagner even called Beethoven's 'Seventh' an 'apotheosis of dance', because of its flashy rhythm. No wonder that the 'Seventh Symphony' is still among Beethoven's best-known symphonies, alongside the 'Eroïca' and the 'Fifth Symphony'.

The Wiener Kammersymphony consists of
Vira Zhuk, first violin
Aya Georgieva, second violin
Barbara Palma, viola
Sergio Mastro, cello
Damián Posse, double bass

In 1802 Beethoven wrote enthusiastically to his friends that he had embarked on a new path. His ballet music to 'Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus' was a real hit. And with his Third Piano Concerto, Beethoven wrote the first romantic piano concerto; or rather a symphony with piano. Music written on the Wiener Kammer symphony. This top Viennese ensemble has the gift of translating large symphonic pieces to the chamber music stage. As the final piece of the concert, this irresistible combination plays Beethoven's 'Seventh Symphony'.
