Sander van Marion and his love for French organ musicIn

the long career of Sander van Marion, French organ music occupies a special place. In this concert he will take you on a fascinating journey through the varied history of French organ music. The court of Sun King Louis XIV is the starting point, with music by the famous Couperin family. Through the French Revolution with variations on the Marseillaise, Sander makes the transition to the nineteenth century. The famous French symphonic organ makes its appearance, for which greats such as César Franck, Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor composed large pieces. Enjoy Franck's 'Pièce héroïque' and Léon Boëllmann's atmospheric 'Suite Gothique'

Sander van Marion - 60 years of music

Sixty years ago began the musical journey of the organist, conductor and composer Sander van Marion, the musician born in Scheveningen in 1938. After his training at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, his characteristic organ playing, his improvisational talent and his surprising concerts as conductor of many choirs earned him an established name both at home and abroad. He received several awards, such as the City Medal of the municipality of The Hague and the Médaille d' Or of the Société 'Arts, Sciences et Lettres' in Paris. He also received a royal decoration by his appointment as Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
