Philip Glass and improvisations
Unique is the collaboration between Lavinia Meijer and jazz pianist Michiel Borstlap. She is world-renowned as a classical harpist, he is a top-pianist in the international jazz world. Not so often did they stand on one stage, but in the Edesche Concert Hall they find each other in music by the American composer Philip Glass and Michiel Borstlap himself. No sinecure, because Glass inspired generations of composers with his minimal music. In recent years Borstlap has grown into one of the most important Dutch jazz pianists.
Lavinia Meijer: Top of the harpists
Lavinia Meijer now belongs to the international top of harpists. She is more productive than ever and sells her albums like a tieriermaster. Nevertheless, she continues unabated with her personal goal of removing prejudice from people. Many people only know the harp as a background instrument, as a romantic melody or a babbling brook. Or as an instrument of the gods from legends. Or cute girls with angel hair. Lavinia says: "It is therefore wonderful to hear that amazement in the audience afterwards. A harp can sound like a whole orchestra, but also light and refined. I find that surprise all over the world."
Michiel Borstlap: jazzy and captivating
Michiel Borstlap is also a gifted composer. His albums 'Blue', 'Reflective' and 'Frames' form the starting point for captivating improvisations by Lavinia Meijer and Michiel Borstlap, which run like threads through the concert
