Piano Quartet Corneille

Just as colourful as Corneille's paintings is the composition of Piano Quartet Corneille. The musicians come from Japan, Georgia, the Netherlands and Greece. Violinist Noé Inui, violist Georgy Kovalev, cellist Ella van Poucke and pianist Vassilis Varvaresos find each other in beautiful pieces by Schubert, Schumann and Fauré. Enjoy an evening full of compelling chamber music.

Relaxing Schubert

As a nineteen-year-old, life smiled at Schubert. You hear that right at the beginning of his relaxed String Trio for violin, viola and cello. The concert couldn't begin any better than with this cheerful piece. Let yourself be carried away by the almost endless stream of melodies that Schubert presents to you

Schumann's Piano Quartet

Schumann's Piano Quartet can be called a piece without egos: the musicians are both soloist and group player. Each player has his own role, but the ensemble can be heard in all its splendour when the four musicians play together. With sharp musical contrasts Schumann completely exploits the combination of piano, violin, viola and cello. You bet that Piano Quartet Corneille can handle that!

Fauré's First Piano Quartet

A concertgoer once said: "If I hear Fauré, I'm actually already in France". This certainly applies to Fauré's atmospheric First Piano Quartet. The music takes you to lavender fields and sun-drenched meadows. Only the third part is an exception to this atmosphere. Fauré seems to pour out his heart in the melancholic music after an engagement that has ended on the rocks.

The Piano Quartet Corneille consists of
Vassilis Varvaresos, piano
Ella van Poucke, cello
Georgy Kovalev, viola
Noé Inui, violin
