Trio Wanderer - Piano trios by Schumann, Fauré, Saint-Saëns

Pianotrio nr. 1 in d, op. 63
Trio Wanderer

Schumann wrote his First Piano Trio as a birthday present for his wife Clara. He probably wanted to cheer her up a bit during the couple's troubled period because of the poor health of their first child, Emil. Clara was happy with the piece and wrote in her diary: "It sounds so youthful and powerful, but at the same time it is masterful in its elaboration"
Pianotrio in d, op. 120
Trio Wanderer
  • I. Allegro, ma non troppo
  • II. Andantino
  • III. Allegro vivo
Fauré's music has always been subdued and delicate. These qualities can be heard even more clearly in Fauré's latest compositions, such as in the Piano Trio, which he wrote shortly before his death. Music that seems stripped of all frills and is more akin to serene Gregorian chant than to excessive romance
PAUZE
Pianotrio nr. 2 in e, op. 92
Trio Wanderer
  • I. Allegro ma non troppo
  • II. Allegretto
  • III. Andante con moto
  • IV. Grazioso, poco allegro
  • V. Allegro
In 1871 Saint-Saëns had had it all with Wagner. Out of reluctance to the, in his view, exaggerated Wagner worship in France, Saint-Saëns turned his gaze to French baroque and music from more distant places. This is clearly audible in his Second Piano Trio. "There are even Basque dance rhythms in it," says the pianist of Trio Wanderer, Vincent Coq.

If there is one piano trio completely at home with music from the nineteenth century, it is the Trio Wanderer. In the Edesche Concert Hall, the musicians take you into the world of German and French Romanticism with breathtaking piano trios by Schumann, Saint-Saëns and Fauré. Especially with the 'Second Piano Trio' of Saint-Saëns Trio Wanderer has a special bond. "For us it's always a feast to play this piano trio and a pleasure for the audience to listen to", says pianist Vincent Coq
