Triosonates

Are Bach's famous Trio Sonatas arrangements of lost chamber music? There are scholars who say that. There is no doubt that these famous organ works can also be performed as chamber music. Tini Mathot (harpsichord), Reine Marie Verhagen (recorder) and Frans Robert Berkhout (baroque bassoon) give you convincing proof of this in this intimate chamber music concert! These sonatas are framed by music of Bach's contemporaries, such as Georg Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi and Antoine Forqueray.

Bach on recorder

Reine Marie Verhagen: "The sonatas by Bach we are going to play were originally written for the organ. I edited them into a version for recorder and harpsichord. An exciting result, during the CD recording you often don't even hear which instrument was playing! It's going to be a spectacular programme, for us musicians - we have to be in top condition for these works - but also for the audience"

Press quotes about their CD with Bach's Trio Sonatas: "The players are terrific: lively, clear, and crisp [...] A standout among recordings of these sonatas by a chamber grouping" (Allmusic)

There are theories that Bach's Trio Sonatas (BWV 525-530) are adaptations of lost chamber music. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that these famous organ works can also be performed as chamber music. Tini Mathot (harpsichord), Reine Marie Verhagen (recorder) and Frans Robert Berkhout (baroque bassoon) play two of these famous sonatas, framed by music of Bach's contemporaries
