Grande Finale with Beethoven's 'Tripelconcert' - ICMFEde 2018

Grande Finale

Grande Finale

Experience the power of music. In the final concert the musicians will be challenged. Josephine Olech, for example, in the flute solo of Debussy 'Syrinx'. Usually you need an orchestra for a solo concert, but in Erwin Schulhoff’s ‘Concertino for flute viola and double bass’ the musicians are both orchestra and soloists. Brahms wrote a mini concert for piano and string quartet when he composed Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34. After the intermission a rare highlight from the concert repertoire will be played: Beethoven’s ‘Triple Concerto’ for piano, violin, cello and orchestra.

Beethoven's 'Tripel Concerto'

Most of the classical solo concerts are for one soloist and orchestra. Beethoven flouted this rule when composing his ‘Triple Concerto’, a concert for no less than three soloists: piano, violin and cello. Tonight this ‘Triple Concerto’ can be heard in a version for soloists and string quintet, in which Anna Fedorova, Eldbjørg Hemsing and Benedict Kloeckner will play the solos.
